WINNER - David Was
David Was is a man desperate to finance a short film, and he’s not above becoming a pawn in a brazen promotional campaign to do so. Was sought us out during the Yahoo! Online Film Festival in Los Angeles on March 22nd, and wrested a Red Carpet Kit directly from our grasp. Then he accosted E! channel correspondent David Adelson, and had his beaming visage beamed to billions of beaming viewers. True, he was woefully underdressed for the Oscars, but well enough attired by our standards to take away $10,000.

"Beyond renting movies at Blockbuster, this is my first foray into film finance," Was quipped.

LUNATIC - Tom Colbert
Another no-budget filmmaker by the name of Tom Colbert didn't make the red carpet at the Oscars, but we decided to send him a runner-up prize anyway just because he was so dang creative - and his “entry” frightened us, quite frankly. Y’see, Colbert is something of a latter-day Frankenstein with Adobe Photoshop. Using his computer, he illustrated the ghastly machinations of his acutely-focused-yet-sick mind and sent them to us. In lieu of moving our offices and changing our names, we sent him the AtomFilms Extreme Comedy Edition DVD, a collection of our most deranged comedy shorts. That should keep him occupied - and far from us - for quite some time.
